I will continue to parallel the two systems for a while, as I want to get a full month's worth of transactions, downloads, etc.but so far Moneydance seems like a faster, cleaner application than does Quicken. Also, I set up the same automatic monthly transactions that I used in Quicken. After an afternoon's work, I now have reconciled balances for all my accounts, and my net worth number matches what Quicken shows. Also, the first time I downloaded transactions for any given account, I ended up with some duplicates, which I then deleted. I imported all of my Quicken data (instructions are on the Moneydance site.) I did end up having to make some "balance adjustment" transactions to get the account balances in sync. I just wanted to update this thread, as I now have Moneydance up and running. Also, why do you want to jettison Quicken? I would also be interested in knowing if Moneydance is *really* better, or the benefit is primarily that you don't have to hold your nose and pay upgrade fees every 3 years for a non-upgrade. But I still need to transcribe information to an Excel spreadsheet to rebalance my portfolio. On the other hand, Quicken does mostly what I want it to, and I know more or less how it is going to behave in most situations now. Even more frustrating is that Intuit knows this, and knows that most of the people who are using Quicken are locked in customers, and will pay for the forced upgrades, and will spend time to re-learn the rearranged GUI, every 3 years. First, I tried a new, simplified Banktivity document with only two accounts and one paycheck deposit transaction in it. Vendor lock-in by Quicken appears to be quite daunting. The two final things I tried still could not get Quicken support to look at their import code, or even to admit that they might be doing something wrong. How you can verify that you have captured everything completely, across stock splits, partial transfers of accounts, vested and unvested stock options, taxable and non-taxable accounts etc? To delete a reminder, highlight the reminder from the list on the right of the calendar. To edit a reminder double-click on the name of the reminder in the list on the right. If the Auto-Commit box is not checked when you create your Transaction Reminder, the transaction will not be applied to your register until/unless you manually apply the reminder. Selecting “0” in the “Days Before Scheduled” field will apply the transaction to your account on the day it is scheduled. When creating a Transaction Reminder selecting “Auto-Commit” will enter the transaction in the appropriate account register a set number of days before the transaction is scheduled. A reminder will occur on all dates you specify in ANY and ALL tabs. When you create a reminder, you'll see a 'Repeat every.' option which offers a number of different date “tabs”. Reminders can occur one time, or can be Repeated. You can also select the + (plus) button at the bottom right of the page, or 'New Transaction Reminder'. To create a new reminder you can click on the appropriate date in the calendar. You can create a Transaction Reminder by selecting Reminders in the Moneydance Sidebar, or by navigating to Tools→Reminders. Transaction Reminders are transactions that appear on the calendar and Home Page according to a set schedule, and can be recorded into your register directly. ![]()
